Skin does not look its happiest when it’s dried, cracked, peeling, or oily. If you prep your skin properly you are sure to get a runway worthy makeup application every time.
Follow these easy steps to get photo shoot ready.
CLEANSE- Look for a cleanser that suits your skin type. If you have acne prone skin look for one that is more acidic. Specifically look for one with hydroxyl or glycolic acids that will hamper the growth of acne causing bacteria. You want to use this twice a day for at least 7-10 days prior to your session to clear up any active breakouts. Be sure to cleanse your face and neck.
EXFOLIATE- No one likes caked on makeup and the number one culprit of this is DEAD SKIN CELLS! Pay special attention to areas that are dry or cracked when exfoliating; usually the forehead and nose are the driest areas. Work in circular motions massaging the exfoliator on your skin and don’t forget your lips. You can also purchase an exfoliating nylon bath cloth for a couple of bucks. I personally use one daily to wash my face. Be aware of your sun exposure up to a week prior to your shoot. Sunburns will cause unsightly peeling and cracking that makeup will cling to and we don’t want that.
HYDRATE- Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin. Look for one with SPF 15. Press your moisturizer in your skin instead of rubbing and allow it to absorb. Apply this to your face and neck. Properly hydrated skin will provide a plump smooth surface for your makeup application. Lines and pores will be less visible also. Be sure to apply a hydrating lip balm as well to keeps your lips smooth and supple for lip product application.
Its especially important to follow these steps prior to your photo shoot; however, these are tips that are great to be used everyday for smooth healthy clear skin.
